Bulgarian Wine Regions

The Eastern Region covers the territory along the Black Sea coast between the Northern border with Romania and the Southernmost point on the sea coast where Bulgaria shoulders Turkey. The Fall here is warm and long, which is very favorable for the accumulation of enough sugar to obtain a fine semi-dry white wines. The wines from the Eastern region are made mostly from white grapes such as Muscat Ottonel, Dimiat, Misket, Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Rkatziteli, Viognier, Riesling, and Aligote . The region produces some of the Bulgaria's best dry and semi-dry wines, that combine a pleasant fruity aroma, full bodied, and elegant freshness at the end. Here is a list of the cities/towns that are producing wine/spirits in the Eastern Region: Targovishte, Preslav, Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Dragaevo, Kableshkovo, Nadarevo, Silistra, Khan Krum, Shumen, and  Pomorie.
