Bulgarian Wine Regions

The Northern wine region spans the area between the Danube river and the Balkan mountain range from North to South and between the Dobrudzha Valley and the Serbian border from East to West respectively. This region produces high quality dry white wines, sparkling wines by the traditional technology and quality red wines with rich fruit aroma and fresh taste.  The reds are made from the local Gamza and Pamid as well as from the noble Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat Ottonel are the most prominent whites.
