Bulgarian Wine Regions

The Southern Region includes the Tracian Valley from the Balkan Range to the Greek border. The region has a temperate-continental climate (close to Mediterranean) with a good distribution of rainfall throughout the growing season. Most of the red grape varieties of Bulgaria are focused here. These include Mavrud, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Misket, Pamid and others. Here is a list of the cities/towns that are producing wine/spirits in the Southern Region: Asenovgrad, Brezovo, Brestovitsa, Vetren, Vinogradets, Ivaylovgrad, Karabunar, Lyubimets, Nova Zagora, Pazardzhik, Pamidovo, Perushtitsa, Peshtera, Plovdiv, Septemvri, Stamboliyski, Stara Zagora, and Chirpan.
