Bulgarian Wine Regions

The sub-balkan region extends south of the Balkan Mountains and has two sub-region - East and West. These deep valleys produce unique micro climates. The main grape varieties that are grown in this region inlcude Red Misket, Riesling, Rkatziteli, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Red Misket is one of the best representatives of the white wines in Bulgaria that have a rich fruity aroma, elegant body and memorable aftertaste. Here is a list of the cities/towns that are producing wine/spirits in the Subbalkan Region: Sliven, Slavjanci, Venetz, Grozden, Karlovo, Karnobat, and Yambol.
